Losartan Potassium 50mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg Tablet – This tablet is a combination medicine that consists of a mixture of two medications, Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothiazide. Losartan is an effective medicine that is used to widely treat high blood pressure and heart problems like heart attack, stroke, heart failure, etc., to protect the kidneys from kidney diseases as well as diabetes. This medication comes from a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) that is approved for their effective capabilities to lower high blood pressure in patients.

A thiazide diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide works by reducing extra or unwanted fluids in the body detained in body tissues which are known as Edema, caused by various conditions like kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, etc. It helps the body to get rid of excess water and salt and helps in making more amount of urine which helps the heart to pump blood efficiently all inside the body. Hydrochlorothiazide is known to be useful in reducing symptoms of shortness of breath, swelling in the ankles or feet, etc.

This combination therapy of an angiotensin II receptor antagonist and a thiazide diuretic increases the levels of potassium in the blood which in turn reduces the risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and a certain heart condition called left ventricular hypertrophy.
